Book Review (by Kayleigh 27/04/17) The Falcon’s Malteser by Anthony Horowitz

Summary:

Tim Diamond is entrusted with an unusual package worth over three million pounds! Tim is a detective (but not a very good one) and he is forced to investigate the murder of the man that gave him the package the day before. Tim gets the blame for the murder and his younger brother Nick gets the package. They have to figure out what the package is, what it does and why it is worth so much, before the criminals catch up to them.

Review:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was exciting with interesting characters and an even more intriguing mystery. (I never knew a box of Maltesers could cause so much chaos!). I found the ending highly entertaining and perfectly wraps up the story. I would recommend it to 9+ (or 9-18 year olds). It’s a good introduction to bigger, more difficult books but it is also a good easy read for older generations. (But if you don’t fall in that age range, don’t let it stop you, if you think you will enjoy it just go for it, I think it’s really good anyway!)

More about (Anthony Horowitz):

This book is part of the Diamond Brothers series but Anthony Horowitz has also written the successful Alex Rider series which was later turned into a great film called Stormbreaker. The Falcon’s Malteser was first released in 1986 and the Diamond Brothers was turned into a TV series in 1991, which was based on the book South By South East. There was also a movie in 1989 called Just Ask for Diamond, which was an adaptation of The Falcon’s Malteser. Anthony continued to write these books into the 2000’s. They were clearly very popular, and although they were started a long time ago they are still great books today.
