We hope to inspire your creativity with the projects we share here. We are home schoolers and love to be different, learn new things and have fun. We try to be as open minded as possible and when people say you should do something in a certain way, we ask why? Why should we follow suit? We are all unique and process things in different ways, so we should be free to express ourselves in our own way.

Loopy Boot Slippers

I had crocheted a Loop Stitch square for my practice squares blanket I am working on. It was difficult to imagine how it would look on a project so I decided to make my daughter some slippers. These were actually her second pair. The first pair she had already worn out before I had the chance to take a picture of them. These Loop Boot slippers make me think of cuddly toys. Kayleigh found these very soft and comfy.

On the soles, I worked in UK Half Treble Crochet/htr [US Half Double Crochet/hdc] and UK Treble Crochet/tr [US Double Crochet/dc]. On the leg of each boot, I worked in the loop stitch with UK Double Crochet/dc [US Single Crochet/sc] on the rows in between the loop stitch rows.

For yarn, crochet hook and abbreviation conversions click - “Crochet Conversion Charts”.

Sole Yarn

Red Heart Lisa Big (shade - Grey 00198).

1 x 200g (7.1oz/131yds/120m) balls.

Weight category: UK Super Chunky [US 6/Super Bulky/Super Chunky].

Tension/gauge: 8 stitches x 12 rows = 4in (10cm) on size 10mm/UK 000 [US N/15] hook.

The crochet hook I used was a 10mm/UK 000 [US N/15].

I would give the Red Heart Lisa Big yarn a 2 out of 5 for the following reasons:-

- It was easy to work;

- There is a reasonable choice of colours available;

- The feel of it wasn’t brilliantly soft and I found that it frayed and bobbled very quickly;

- You, obviously, do not get a lot on a ball but it does go further if you knit with it rather than crochet;

- The cost of yarn is expensive - I paid about £4.50 per 200g ball but it is now £5.20;

- Would I use this yarn again? NO.

Slipper Main Body Yarn

Drops Peak (shade - Off White 01).

3 x 50g (1.75oz/49yds/45m) balls.

Weight category: UK Super Chunky [US 6/Super Bulky/Super Chunky].

Tension/gauge: 11 stitches x 15 rows = 4″ (10cm) on size 8mm/UK 0 [US L/11] hook.

The crochet hook I used was a 8mm/UK 0 [US L/11].

I would give the Drops Peak yarn a 3 out of 5 for the following reasons:-

- It was easy to work and quick to work up;

- There is only a small choice of colours available;

- The feel of it was soft and would make great toys;

- The cost of yarn is a bit expensive for what you get on a ball - I paid about £1.70 per 50g ball;

- Would I use this yarn again? YES, but only when finances allow.

I hope this brings you #creativejoyandinspiration.
